Commencing Sunday March 22nd, 2020

The developing situation across the world with the spread of the Coronavirus is causing everyone to re-evaluate the way we do things and the health and wellbeing of our congregation is our highest priority.

Please be assured that the Chowdene Team is closely monitoring and acting on the guidance provided by the UK Government regarding the coronavirus and social distancing recommendations.

From this Sunday until further notice, we won’t be meeting in Emmanuel College or the Chapel building in Low Fell but you can join us online at 11am here and on our YouTube Channel here.

This week we will be recording the service in advance but you can take part in discussion whilst its going on, put in prayer requests and so on. In coming weeks we will be looking at all kinds of ways  to richen the online service so please get involved in this new way of “doing church”.  After all, when Jesus said “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”, He didn’t say where!

While we are not meeting at our Sunday gatherings, groups or other events, our wish is that you are part of a group so that you are connected and supported at this time. Please make sure you are connected to a House Group or other Fellowship support Group that meets your needs.

Remember –

  • If you or anyone in your household shows any symptoms, please follow the newly issued UK Government Stay at Home Guidance and self-isolate for 14 days
  • Be alert in taking the necessary precautions regarding your own health by following the advice for the public from the World Health Organisation (WHO)
  • Check the recommendations of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) before traveling overseas.
  • Ultimately, even as we pursue preventative measures and exercise wisdom in keeping ourselves and loved ones safe, our faith and security is in Jesus Christ. We pray His promise of protection over you and your family. Let’s also pray for those affected around the world, and that the virus will be quickly contained and conquered.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14:1

Philippians 4:6-7 says this: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
